SEWER CAMERA INSPECTION
Finding sewer cracks and breakage requires professional plumbing help. Sewer cameras are the kind of tool used by plumbers to help them find the origin of sewer related problems as they are relatively low cost than changing the whole sewer lines or digging the whole basement.
What is a sewer camera inspection?
It is a process where the plumber or a specialist comes to run a video line through your waste pipe system. The video might extend down your pipe branch lines or the house’s sewer line. At the end of the line is the camera which lets you see real-time images of the condition of the sewer pipes.
Why is it necessary?
The sewer camera inspection is not a frequent event. However, a video inspection is necessary while installing a new bathroom or remodeling the kitchen or bathroom because the wastewater system for such projects is in large quantity and hence, it makes it prudent to inspect the sewer line beforehand to make sure it can bear the increased needs and changes.
Homeowners or institutes usually call for such services only if there is a problem, such as a blockage that cannot be fixed by plunging, liquid drain cleaners, or drain auguring.
How well does it work?
These inspections lead to the obstruction causing the blockage. While the resolution of the images remains high, the picture will be slightly jerky because the scope/lens has to be manually pushed down the line which causes motion making picture sloppy.
What the cost of the whole process?
The cost for such a process varies from a plumber to plumber. Plumber having cheap and old types of equipment might do it for less whereas upgraded equipped plumber might charge higher. Usually, the plumber agencies have a flat fixed rate for such practices. However, renting the equipment for such an inspection might be the cheapest option.
What are the drawbacks of this process?
Despite having its great importance in the plumbing industry there are few drawbacks of this sewer camera inspection as there are few things which the sewer cameras can’t see such as leaks because the camera won’t know where the water is going out.
